HIRING: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR POSITION

Position Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Denver Tool Library's mission by recruiting, training, scheduling, and recognizing our dedicated volunteers. This position ensures a positive and productive volunteer experience, maximizing their contributions to the organization. The volunteer Coordinator will also work 2-4 Tool Librarian shifts each month to gain practical experience in our daily operations.
Time Commitment:
This position requires approximately 5-10 hours per week, with some flexibility.
Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment: Develop and implement strategies to attract new volunteers, including online postings, community outreach, and partnerships with local organizations.
Application and Onboarding: Manage the volunteer application process. Develop and deliver volunteer orientations and training sessions.
Scheduling and Communication: Create and manage volunteer schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for volunteer projects. Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding scheduling updates, events, and important information.
Volunteer Recognition and Retention: Develop and implement strategies to recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions, fostering a positive and supportive volunteer community. Track volunteer hours and maintain accurate records.
Collaboration: Work closely with DTL staff and other volunteers to identify volunteer needs and ensure effective integration of volunteers into various aspects of the organization.
Policy and Procedure Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of volunteer policies and procedures.
Problem Solving: Address volunteer concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
Reporting: Regularly report to the DTL Tool Librarian Manager on volunteer activities, recruitment efforts, and other relevant metrics.
Tool Librarian Responsibilities:
Checking tools in and out
Cleaning, organizing, and tidying tools & the shop
Helping members find the tools they are looking for
Signing up new members
Inventorying new tools & donations
Answering phone calls & replying to emails
Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in volunteer management, human resources, or a related field preferred.
Passion for the Denver Tool Library’s mission and commitment to community engagement.
Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, online scheduling tools).
Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
